One of my all-time favorite movies is Ridely Scott’s 1979 classic “Alien” starring Sigourney Weaver and perhaps the coolest space moster of all time.
Film critic Roger Ebert called Alien the most influential movie of its kind, and he turned out to be right. The movie created a dynsasty of sequals, and also video games, “hybrid” movies involving the Alien and the equally cool monster — “Predator.”
But what always intrigued from Day 1 — when I saw the movie when it first came out in 1979 — were the obvious Freudian elements of the film. In fact, the movie is loaded with Freudian/sexual symbolism, and perhaps is the greatest “Freudian Nightmare.”

I gleefully await that entry, my friend. and many, many more. I’m still, along with countless others, captivated by your ouija tales. A few weeks ago I had the chance to try my hand at the board again, and drunkenly passed it up. I don’t want to do it while intoxicated and I have yet to find friends who will give it a decent go.
You’re probably buried in work you actually get paid for, but I’m thinking you should definitely jump back into this covered wagon we call blogging.

By some creepy synchronistic coincidence I was thinking about Alien the day I bumped into your post (after reading about your World Religion on Unexplained Mysteries). I haven’t looked at the film again but I’m wondering why you describe the Alien as bio MECHANICAL? I never saw it as anything but another life form. Second, doesn’t everything, when you think about it, look like a penis? Or a vagina for that matter. I guess I haven’t read enough Freud.
Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation 🙂 Anyway … nice blog to visit.
